How We Met

“Kevin & Carol-Ann met on a mission trip to Nicaragua. Kevin and Carol-Ann’s relationship started off slow, in fact, Carol-Ann wanted them to “just be friends” until Kevin told her that she knew their relationship was much more.  Carol-Ann and Kevin dated for 3 years before he popped the question but they are so glad they did! During their 3 years of dating, Kevin and CA found that they shared a love for Jesus, a heart for serving others, a joy of running (Kevin even convinced her to run her first marathon in 2017), and we can’t forget about their passion for cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.  They went on dates, mostly to Taqueria del Sol, grew in their friendships with work friends and church friends, and endured the planning of homecomings, Prom, and Pep Rally’s. They learned that Carol-Ann is stubborn and a boxer aka the fighter and that Kevin is the lover, always putting Carol-Ann first. Though they faced trials throughout their dating relationship, the ups and the downs prepared them to enter into this beautiful covenant we call marriage. Kevin and Carol-Ann are excited to continue to get to know each other and be best friends all while serving the Lord for the rest of their days. There might also be a few races mixed in there…but we don’t think Kevin will ever convince her to run a 100-mile race like him.”

The Proposal

“Over Memorial Day Weekend 2018, Kevin and Carol-Ann drove to Hilton Head Island for a quick vacation after CA worked her high school’s graduation. A much needed break from the craziness at the end of the school year. Carol-Ann’s favorite place EVER is any beach because it helps her to relax and enjoy the sunshine. There’s nothing better than a sea breeze and the sound of the ocean to bring your stress level down. The first day they were there, Kevin kept talking about going to this sub place for lunch and then having a later dinner around 7pm. All this sounded great to Carol-Ann because she was concerned about catching those rays until the rain came to town. Needless to say their focus was in the normal places – CA enjoying the beach atmosphere and Kevin enjoying the food. 😉 The subs were DIVINE (literally the best subs I’ve had in my life…shout out to Stu’s Surf Side Subs). Carol-Ann suspected nothing. Next up, beach chillin! CA and Kevin enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the beach, reading and just taking it all in. There may have been some swimming involved as well. Finally, it was time to get ready for dinner and Carol-Ann was flexible, caving into Kevin’s persistence to walk to dinner – it wasn’t that far. Little did she know that he wanted to walk on the beach…not on the hard sand by the water but trudging through the dunes. Who on Earth wants to put that much effort into a short walk to dinner?! But Carol-Ann had promised Kevin she would work on being more romantic. On their walk to dinner, Carol-Ann started complaining a little ways in, asking if they could just walk on the side walk versus the beach. Kevin obliged saying that they could go up at the next boardwalk. HOWEVER, right at the next board walk they stumbled upon a picnic blanket covered in roses with a beach bucket with their names on it, filled with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Once the initial shock wore off (Carol-Ann is not too good at surprises), Kevin was able to propose and ask Carol-Ann to marry him – wahoo! They celebrated and called their families but Kevin had forgotten about dinner, his goal for the evening accomplished. Carol-Ann, on the other hand, had NOT forgotten dinner and convinced Kevin to get the typical beach food – BBQ. And the excitement hasn’t stopped! BFF’s for life <3”

Congratulations, Carol-Ann & Kevin, and thanks to all the amazing vendors who helped bring the day to life!
