In the words of Jody:

“Trel and I met at the University of West Georgia in 2009, I believe. He came to a Bible study that I was going to for a while (since I started going to UWG before him…he transferred). Any who, after the Bible study everyone is mingling and talking and Trel introduces himself to me. So, we are having small talk and I ask his name and he says, “Greatness”… -____-

I’m sorry, what??? So I asked him his “real” name and he says “Montrel” (or Trel, can’t quite remember). Well, shortly after that I see him around campus and I am trying to remember that corny name he gave me at Bible study and I walk up to him and say (because I remembered it), “Heyyyy Marvelous!!” LOL. Yeah, that definitely wasn’t it, but *shrugs*. So, we catch up and have a little more “small talk”…

Fast forward some months or so after…. (in between this time and there after, Trel was ALWAYS trying to get at me, but I ignored him for two reasons: 1. HE WAS/IS SUPER COUNTRY 2. I never really took him seriously )Trel, Jeannie, and myself become this best friend trio and I am beginning to realize that I have feelings for him and I just start freaking OUT! I decide tell my cousin, Simone, and my brother, one of his best friends, Dre, because I do NOT want to have that “I think I have feelings for you” conversation. Well, needless to say, I send Trel this long text message and immediately turn off my phone (because by some miracle the powering off of my phone will eat the message and I will never get a response back, right??? lol). Welp, things got a little weird (not too much).. We still remained “best friends”. I can’t even put a date on when we actually started dating… Lol. We’ve had some ups and downs, but we’re here, 8 years later and I’m marrying my BEST FRIEND!

In the words of Montrel:

“The surprise proposal happened at Atlanta Fest’s annual concert. Jody thought that she won a prize and went on stage to receive it. She was made to close her eyes. Once she opened her eyes, there her groom to be stood in front of her. (She didn’t know that he was in town.) When she looked out into the audience she saw their friends and families, including her family that flew in from New York. They’re going to be a dope couple.”

Congratulations, Jody & Montrel and thanks to the incredible vendors who brought the day to life!
